About Brittany Brett
Brittany Brett is an artist working in oil painting, photography, and drawing, based between New York and Florida. Her practice centers on equine and figurative portraiture, exploring individual character and physical presence through close observation of light, color, and gesture. Her longstanding work with horses informs both her understanding of their anatomy and her sensitivity to their behavior.
Brett’s paintings range from intimate studies to monumental, life-size commissions for private collections. Her portrait Quintessence was selected for the 2012 Hampton Classic Horse Show poster and is held in the King of Morocco’s private collection. Her painting Zazoe was a semifinalist in the 15th International ARC Salon (2020–2021). Her work has been exhibited in New York City, the Hamptons, Greenwich, Florida, Georgia, and Provence, France, and her photography appears in ASSOULINE’s Wellington and Palm Beach.
She studied painting and photography at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she also competed on the varsity equestrian team from 2004 to 2008. Her studies included documentary photography and art history in France, and continued her training at the International Center of Photography and the Art Students League of New York. Across her painting and photographic practice, she brings a painter’s attention to form and atmosphere together with a documentary interest in people, place, and equestrian culture.
Alongside her studio practice, Brett serves as Vice President and therapeutic riding instructor at Hopes, Dreams & Horses, where her work includes the care, rehabilitation, and retraining of rescue horses. This engagement remains a grounding influence on her art.
